My Ethics

Everyone’s journey and healing are their own responsibility – no one can do it for us, just as no one can stop us either!

Saying that, ethics is a very important factor in any healing or caring profession, and my integrity is crucial to my ability to do my work. Without it, I would be unable to access the guidance of my spirit guides, or to effectively maintain my own well-being and energetic health.

In shamanism, there are a number of ethical considerations to bear in mind, whether we are professional therapists or personal practitioners.

Sacred Space

We always work in Sacred Space, which is an energetic space this is blessed by connection to Spirit, and has boundaries that are held by our guides and spiritual allies.

It also means:

- maintaining absolute confidentiality

- working at a pace that is appropriate and effective

- never insisting that anyone does anything they’re uncomfortable with

- creating a space that is safe and free from judgement and personal issues

- maintaining clear, well-defined personal, professional and energetic boundaries

Permission

Permission is absolutely crucial, and is unfortunately a factor that is often overlooked by healers and energy workers. Permission must be obtained to perform any healing or intervention, or to obtain guidance about any person – including people associated with the client.

It is quite common to be asked to send healing to someone or to find our why they are behaving in a certain way – without that person’s permission, this would be considered by my tradition and many others to be sorcery.

To understand the seriousness of the need for permission, consider the intimate nature of energetic and spiritual healing; just as we consider unwanted physical contact to be assault, we must consider unwanted energetic contact in the same way.

Fees and Charges

I charge typical fees for my work, which allows me to offer my services in a sustainable way. However, I will never turn someone down for healing or coaching work because they can’t pay my fees, and will always try to negotiate an alternative exchange.

At The Living Sacred, we run the Ayni Scheme, which offers appointments to people in financial difficulty free of charge in exchange for their time with a community project or charity.

Professional Organisations

Through The Living Sacred, I am a member of the Society for Shamanic Practitioners, an alliance of people deeply committed to the re-emergence of shamanic practices that promote healthy individuals and viable communities.

I adhere to the society’s Vision Statement and Principles of Integrity.

I have also completed the Healing the Light Body program with the Four Winds Society, and continue my training with them.
