How I became a shaman…
The word ‘shaman’ can be confusing in our culture – we lost our traditional ‘shamans’ a long time ago, atleast officially, and the current word actually comes from another culture and country entirely.
What is a shaman?
A shaman is someone who journeys into the spirit world, and with the help of their spirit allies brings back healing and knowledge for the benefit of the community. Shamanism is, therefore, not a religion but a spiritual practice that can be integrated into any spiritual path, and that can be found throughout most cultures the world over.
First steps on the path
I took my first steps on this path when I was only 5 or 6 years old and began speaking with Spirit directly. Since then, I have spoken with many different spirits, and have been journeying into the spirit world for over 7 years.
I began my training in energy medicine over 10 years ago, first by exploring reiki and then by studying with the Four Winds Society as an energy medicine practitioner.
What shamanism means to me
‘Shaman’ is just a word, a signpost to a way of working and living. For me, it’s about living with a purpose to my life, connected with my heart and Spirit in everything that I do, and helping others to do the same in their own way. And it’s just a job title.
