The Great Rites
The Great Rites, also known as the Munay-Ki, are a set of nine spiritual rites of passage that connect us to a lineage of healers, teachers and guides that have walked the ways of the spiritual path throughout time.
They are also energetic transmissions that implant the seeds of our spiritual evolution deep within our luminous energy fields, ready for us to grow and integrate them into our lives in our own way.
‘Munay-Ki’ comes from a Quechua word that means ‘I love you.’ The Munay-Ki are the nine rites of initiation to become a person of wisdom and power who has accepted the stewardship for all creation.
The Great Rites can be found in many forms throughout almost all spiritual traditions all over the world. I have received the rites through my teachers Dr Alberto Villoldo and others at the Four Winds Society, and Wake and Kinlen Wheeler, of Sacred Pathways.
I gift the rites together with my husband Gabriel, in a traditional masculine-feminine partnership. They are given in much the same way that we have been gifted them, in ceremonies which are derived from the traditional Andean shamanic rites that have been handed down for centuries.
The Healers Rite
The Healers Rite connects us to the lineage of healers and midwives that have tended to the wellbeing of their communities through milenia. These are the men and women who understand how to use healing herbs, how to work with crystals, how to use ceremony and prayer for healing, and how to bring balance and harmony back to the individual as part of their healing journey.
This rite activates the healing power of our hands, and initiates us into our own healing journey that continues throughout the rest of the rites, without which we cannot assist others effectively.
The Bands of Power
The Bands of Power are five bands of elemental energy that are worked into our luminous energy fields in order to connect us to the fundamental elements of creation and allow us to transmute any and all energies that we encounter.
The bands hold our energies firmly while allowing us to remain open to the world so that we can walk the spiritual path without fear.
The Harmony Rites
The Harmony Rites connect us to seven spiritual guides or archetypes, creating a space for them within our luminous energy fields so that they can assist us in maintaining harmony. The guides relate to the four elements or directions, as well as the gatekeepers of the three shamanic worlds, who allow us to trave safely in the spiritual realms.
The Seers Rite
The Seers Rite activates our ability to see truly; our spiritual power of vision, which allows us not only to see what truly is, but also what could be. With this power we can begin to dream creation into being and fully participate in the evolution of the world.
This rite also opens our ability to perceive the world of energy and spirit that is all around us.
The Daykeepers Rite
The Daykeepers Rite innitiates us into the lineage of men and women who understand and can work with the cycles and rhythms of creation. These are the great ceremony workers, who know how to effect creation through working with their altars, their medicine objects and the various doorways in nature such as standing stones.
This rite also begins the work of healing and integrating the sacred feminine, beginning as an seed in our luminous energy fields and growing as we consciously work with this archetype within us.
The Wisdomkeepers Rite
The Wisdomkeepers Rite innitiates us into the lineage of men and women who know the power of the teachings and stories, those who keep and transmit spiritual knowing and direct experience of Spirit. These are the teachers, storytellers, weaves and artisans who translate spiritual truths into forms that we can all undertstand.
This rite also begins the process of healing and integrating the sacred masculine, again as a luminous seed of energy within us that grows as we honour and listen to it.
The Earthkeepers Rite
The Earthkeepers Rite innitiates us into the lineage of beings who take responsibility for the evolution and wellbeing of the entire Earth, from the stones to the plants, the animals and all the beings who live on her.
This rite also begins the process of integration and wholeness between the sacred feminine and the sacred masculine that allows us to experience our whole, true nature as souls.
The Starkeepers Rite
The Starkeepers Rite innitiates us into the lineage of beings who take responsibility for time and the great mythic stories of creation. These are the beings who live within the stars, and who can show us how to evolve into the beings we truly wish to be.
Once we have had this rite given to us, we begin to evolve at every level into the beings we have the potential to be. It is said in the Andean tradition that once this rite has been received, we begin to grow new, luminous rainbow bodies that will match the new vibrations of Earth after the 2012 transition.
The Creator Rite
The Creator Rite innitiates us into the lineage of beings who take responsibility for the whole of creation and the process of conscious evolution. These are the great spiritual teachers like Jesus and Buddha, who have lived and truly know the ultimate spiritual consciousness, and are able to pass it on to us so that we can live and develop that awareness in our own lives.
